    Safe Attachments Policy

    Purpose: Prevent malware from being delivered through email attachments by sandboxing them.

    Steps to Create a Safe Attachments Policy

    1. Go to Microsoft 365 Defender Portal > Threat Policies > Safe Attachments.
    2. Click +Create and select Safe Attachments Policy.
    3. Configure the policy:
      • Name: E.g., “Safe Attachments Policy”.
      • Turn on ATP for attachments delivered in email: Enable this.
      • Monitor, block, or replace: Select Block or Replace to quarantine malicious attachments.
      • Enable Dynamic Delivery: Allows the email to be delivered without the attachment until it is scanned.
    4. Assign to users or groups.
    5. Save and review the policy.
