To join a Windows 11 device to your organization’s Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), follow these steps:

    Step 1: Prerequisites

    1. Ensure you have:
      • A Microsoft Entra ID account with the necessary credentials (e.g., email and password).
      • Administrative rights on the Windows 11 device.
    2. Your organization must allow device enrollment in Microsoft Entra ID.

Step 2: Join Microsoft Entra ID

    1. Open Settings:
      • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
    2. Navigate to Accounts:
      • Go to Accounts > Access work or school.
    3. Add an Account:
      • Click Connect.
    4. Choose Account Type:
      • Select Join this device to Azure Active Directory (or “Microsoft Entra ID”).
    5. Sign In:
    6. Follow the Prompts:
      • Verify your identity if multi-factor authentication (MFA) is enabled.
      • Complete the setup as guided.
    7. Restart the Device:
      • Once completed, restart the computer.

Step 3: Verify the Device is Joined

    1. Go back to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
    2. Ensure your organization’s account appears in the list and shows as Connected to Azure AD.

Optional: Switch to a Work Profile

After joining Microsoft Entra ID, you may want to switch to the organization-managed profile.

    1. Sign out of the local account.
    2. Sign in using your work/school Microsoft Entra ID credentials.

    Troubleshooting Tips

    1. Error Joining Entra ID?
      • Ensure the device is running Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, or Education. The Home edition does not support joining Microsoft Entra ID.
      • Upgrade to Pro if needed via Settings > System > Activation > Upgrade to Pro.
    2. Device Already Managed?
      • If the device is already joined to a domain or another Entra ID tenant, you must remove it first:
        • Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school, select the account, and click Disconnect.
    3. Policy Restriction Issues:
      • Contact your organization’s IT administrator to ensure your device is allowed to join Microsoft Entra ID.
