Weekend WikiKeymasterTo join a Windows 11 device to your organization’s Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), follow these steps:
Step 1: Prerequisites
- Ensure you have:
- A Microsoft Entra ID account with the necessary credentials (e.g., email and password).
- Administrative rights on the Windows 11 device.
- Your organization must allow device enrollment in Microsoft Entra ID.
Step 2: Join Microsoft Entra ID
- Open Settings:

- Navigate to Accounts:
- Go to Accounts > Access work or school.
- Add an Account:
- Click Connect.
- Choose Account Type:
- Select Join this device to Azure Active Directory (or “Microsoft Entra ID”).

- Ensure your organization’s account appears in the list and shows as Connected to Azure AD.
Optional: Switch to a Work Profile
After joining Microsoft Entra ID, you may want to switch to the organization-managed profile.
- Sign out of the local account.
- Sign in using your work/school Microsoft Entra ID credentials.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Error Joining Entra ID?
- Ensure the device is running Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, or Education. The Home edition does not support joining Microsoft Entra ID.
- Upgrade to Pro if needed via Settings > System > Activation > Upgrade to Pro.
- Device Already Managed?
- If the device is already joined to a domain or another Entra ID tenant, you must remove it first:
- Go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school, select the account, and click Disconnect.
