4. Enhanced Safe Links and Attachments
Purpose: Protect against malicious URLs and attachments with deeper scanning and analysis.
Steps to Configure Enhanced Safe Links
- In the Microsoft 365 Defender Portal, navigate to Threat Policies > Safe Links.
- Configure a Safe Links policy:
- Enable URL scanning in emails and Office apps.
- Turn on time-of-click verification for URLs to check for threats when clicked.
- Enable Do not allow users to click through to the original URL for maximum protection.
- Assign the policy to users, groups, or domains.
Steps to Configure Enhanced Safe Attachments
- In Threat Policies, navigate to Safe Attachments.
- Create a new Safe Attachments policy:
- Turn on ATP for attachments delivered in email.
- Choose Dynamic Delivery to allow emails to be sent without attachments until scanning is complete.
- Set actions for malicious files: Block, Replace, or Quarantine.
- Assign to users or groups, and save the policy.
