To set up Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) in Microsoft 365, follow these steps:

Step 1: Enable SSPR in Azure AD

    1. Sign in to the Azure portal (https://portal.azure.com) with an administrator account.
    2. In the left-hand menu, select Azure Active Directory.
    3. Under the Security section, click on Password Reset.
    4. In the Password Reset settings, ensure Self-Service Password Reset is enabled for your organization. Choose All or Selected to specify which users can use SSPR.
      • All: All users in the organization can use SSPR.
      • Selected: You can choose a specific group of users to enable SSPR.
    5. After selecting the appropriate option, click Save.

    Step 2: Configure Authentication Methods

    1. In the Password Reset settings page, click on Authentication Methods.
    2. Select which methods you want to allow users to authenticate their identity (e.g., security questions, email, mobile phone, or Microsoft Authenticator app).
    3. Configure the number of methods required (usually at least two methods).
    4. Click Save once you’ve made your selections.

Step 3: Set up SSPR Policies (Optional)

    1. Under Password Reset, go to Registration to configure whether users must register for SSPR.
    2. Configure enrollment policies like:
      • Require users to register when they sign in the first time.
      • Allow users to update or reset their authentication methods.
    3. Click Save when finished.

    Step 4: Enable Notifications (Optional)

    1. Under Password Reset, go to Notifications to enable or disable notifications when a password reset is requested.
    2. You can send notifications to users when their password is reset or changed.
    3. Toggle the settings and click Save.

    Step 5: Test the SSPR

    1. Once configured, you can test SSPR by going to the Microsoft 365 login page (https://www.office.com).
    2. Click on Can’t access your account? or Forgot my password.
    3. Follow the prompts to reset the password, verifying that the methods you set up work as intended.

    Step 6: Communicate to Users

    1. Inform your users about the SSPR system so they know how to reset their password in case they forget it.
    2. You may want to provide instructions for them on how to register for SSPR, if required.

Let me know if you need further clarification on any step!
